I've never played in a beer league software league.  Is it drunk programming?  Sounds fun.

Don't a lot of beer leagues limit the amount of Homeruns you can hit?

With the way pitching and defense is currently don't all team struggle to score when they don't hit HR?  Seven players hit .300.  It's pretty hard to string together three hits in an inning with what pitching looks like these days.

Hence the need for baseball players who can bunt when it is called for, hit behind the runner when it is called for, hit a sacrifice fly when needed, steal a base when needed.  With the strength of pitching and defense, small ball becomes more important, since scoring a few runs can win the game.  This isn't the steroid era anymore where if you didn't score at least 5 runs, you had a small chance of winning.   When you lose a playoff series where you gave up 3 runs, and your 3-4-5 hitters can't get a run across with bases loaded and no outs...I think it's time to re-examine your approach.

Beer league softball = bunch of guys trying to hit everything over the fence, or Orioles baseball.

Or professional baseball.

It's not the 1890's.

In the playoffs the teams hitting homeruns are doing better than the teams that aren't.

I guess it's coot to be nostalgic but it's not efficient, and a best of three series doesn't change anything.

On a side note, I think the best of 3 series was just to get their feet in the door with an extra playoff round. I think it’s going to get to a best of 5 very shortly.

See that squeeze play last night by the Guardians to get an extra late run?  Frye with the safety squeeze bunt who also hit a pinch-hit homerun to give the Guardinas the lead.

I am not saying construct a small ball team, that won't work with the dominate pitching and better defense today.  Adding some players who can play small ball when needed would help the team.  The Diamondbacks led the league in runs scored, they also led the league in sacrifice hits, had 34 compared to the O's 6.
