Bauer interested in O's

All this Bauer talk, the truth is he isn’t that good anymore.  If he were, some team would sign him.  It’s that simple.  On top of that, it seems he thinks he is better than he is.  Is he asking for a minor league invite somewhere to prove himself?

I am interested only because it would make the starters a stronger unit.  He probably could pitch to 3.8 to 4.2 era.  He could be a 3 or 4 starter and push Wells into the bullpen.  Wells might be a closer if we have trouble there.

I know there is not a right to a job on a MLB team.  I know if a player is extremely disruptive teams might not want to take chance on a guy even with a one year league minimum salary.

We could use Bauer especially because we wouldnt have to trade for him.  Wouldnt have to give him a long term contract.  Would have him on a low salary.  I personally would bring him in for an interview and grill him a couple hours on his life his mindset and his goals.  If it sounds okay I would jump at the chance to sign him.

Nothing he did was illegal.  It was weird.  But it was consenting adults.  I wouldnt let it stop me.

If there was a video out there of him doing it.......that is another question.  I think I would pass if MLB knows that crap is out there.  That would be too much to see.

But I want to win it all this year.  I would reach out to him and give him an interview.

Do we really know he isn’t that good anymore?

Serious question. Why hasn't this thread been locked?  At this point there's no rumor or even hint of truth to the possibility of Bauer signing with the Orioles or any other team. And it's evolved into the Bauer fan boys / truthers just bumping it the top to reiterate the same stale points that often have little or nothing to do with baseball.

Who here is a “Bauer Fan Boy/Truther”?

No one can definitely say, but there are certainly some pretty big red flags. I also don't buy into the black balled conspiracy theory that all of MLB isn't touching him just for off the field antics. I just think they probably don't think the realistic juice is worth the squeeze.

1. He wasn't even the best pitcher on his (Japanese) team last season. He was also so bad early in the 2023 season that he was demoted to the minors.

2. He's an admitted cheater (i.e., tacky stuff). Pre spin rate increase he was a mediocre / 4.00+ ERA picher.

Good thing we didn't lock the thread so the stale rebuttals had a chance to get in.

I’m sure you don’t have to look far to find worse/less accomplished pitchers on MLB rosters.

@RZNJ wins. The anti-Bauer sentiment is as stale as the “Bauer Fan Boys”.

This entire thread is one big circle that just keeps repeating. There's nothing new for anyone to post or say at this point  I've largely ignored it for weeks, but I'm really just sick of seeing it at the top of my feed. I want to talk about and focus on the actual team and not some bizarre hypothetical based on no facts or even rumors that folks keep bringing up just to tell us how they think Bauer is being black-balled and innocent.

So how do you deal with real life issues?

Bauer wasn’t demoted. There was a rainout and in Japan they don’t rearrange the whole rotation accordingly, since they only pitch once a week. So instead of skipping a start, he chose to pitch in a minor league game to not miss a start. But the media ran with the demotion story. Funny, the media can just run with a story for clicks and views….

What’s funny is that Domingo German just got signed to a deal when he was actually found guilty of Domestic Violence and suspended 81 games.

Bauer is 100% getting blackballed.
