I think we’ve seen that none of our prospects have mashed right away and most have struggled.   It’s September and we’re a half game out.   We already have Holliday going through his growing pains.   Mayo’s defense is shaky at 1B and 3B and like most of our other prospects, looks like he’s going need time to adjust.

Is that a process you want to start now?

I don't think I said I wanted to start that process now.

The complaint is about the complaining that none of or prospects have mashed right away.  Certain people think they're entitled to a Hall of Fame performance from Day 1 and despite a lot of evidence that it doesn't work that way, the sense of entitlement only grows.

There’s zero reason for Maton to be on this roster, much less for Mayo.

No problem with him being here.  Big problem with him, Soto and Rivera here. That makes zero sense.  Maton is probably the best of the 3.

But we also have so many key guys hurt right now, that it’s an issue for the offense.

And I’m not sure anyone is calling for Mayo to play everyday. I know for me, 3 or maybe 4 starts a week would be fine.

It’s not like guys in front of him are playing well..or are any good. Your upside is higher with Mayo.

Even if you are scared off by his defense, DH more

I get it, Mayo hasn't hit much and his defense has been shaky to say the least. So why did they call him back up? Of course, the question is, who else?

I mean, for a team that has been drafting a ton college hitters over the last 6 years, the fact that they have Eloy, Rivera, Slater, and Maton on the roster and Mayo still can't crack the lineup tells me something has gone awry!

What are their % to win the division? (comes with a first round bye) and an AL East Flag, which would be back to back, for the first time since? ( gotta be 5 or 6 years at least}

playing Mayo over Maton is not going to change that

O'Hearn is playing so much right now because he's the only 1B on the team.

That's not my issue whatsoever. It was committing the DH spot to him - a low ceiling platoon-only, no-defense guy when multiple elite prospects were blocked coming into the season that needed playing time at DH.

Get over it.  Unless you haven't noticed, Coby did not hit when given his chances.  You're acting like he's delivering positive results.  Newsflash, He's not.  Lineups are not designed with man-crushes in mind.

The way he's been used has put him in a position to fail. And playing some of the worst players in baseball - literally guys who've been placed on waivers prior to being picked up by Elias - is horrible roster management.

I'm never going to get over playing trash players over more talented elite prospects that need every day at bats to get acclimated. You should get over being a Hyde apologist and short sample size slave.

We already have below average defense at both corners (while Mountcastle is on the IL), so like you, I don't understand why Mayo is not getting more of a shot. We already know what Maton et al can't do, let's see what Mayo can do if given half a chance.

Agreed, but we also have a worthless Eloy Jimenez taking up at bats at DH when all of those ABs could be going to Mayo. Elias and Hyde have been absolutely terrible managing the roster this season, and they both favor bad veterans to an infuriating, stupid degree.

It's way past time for Mullins to move up in the order and for Adley to move down.  The start of a road trip would be a good time to turn the page.

Even if Hyde makes that change, though, it won't matter much.  The O's need at least two of Urias, Mountcastle and Westburg to come back to get this offense going again.

Job #1 should be getting Adley out of the two spot. You can’t keep treating him like he’s the same hitter as last year and the year before that. It feels like our management has real problems making adjustments when players go into long term slumps. I half suspect they’d be batting Chris Davis cleanup if he was still on the roster.

Right now I’d move Santander to 2nd in the lineup followed by Mullins and play it by ear after that.

Hoping on Urias to “get the offense going” is something I never thought would Happen.

Agreed. Play him or trade him. The worst option is to have him sit on the bench losing value.
