Way Under The Radar

I like the 6'11 155 Kevin Velasco doing this in the DSL. 2.0 BB9 in 49.2 career innings is interesting. No HR's allowed so far this season. I'd like to know what kind of velocity he's working with, but I guess he'll gain some more as weight gets added.

Every time I see  a great performance by Van loon I go watch the game and can't figure out why he's suddenly K'ing guys. I just don't see it.

I don’t care what he looks like.  I just want to have a pitcher named Van Loon.

Certainly an intriguing guy due to his size and stats he's putting up of late. In he last four appearances, here's what he's done.

He does have a great name for sure. I hope he does get a AAA promotion soon so I can see his stat cast info.

Yeah, we need Melewski to check in on the exact height he is. The 155 has to be outdated if he is really  6'11. I cant find any video of him online, but I didnt exactly look very hard.

I agree because the secondary benefit is to have a Van Loon working with the Tides. The Audubon Society could sponsor a give away on the night he pitches!

Manute Bol was 7'7" and 201.

I saw him in an airport once.  Looked like a giant praying mantis when he ducked to go through the metal detector.  He was on my plane and had to sit diagonally across an entire row of seats.

Peter Van Loon.   25 yo RHP taken in the 16th round in 2019.   Started the year on the IL and didn’t start pitching until June 4.   Made his way back to Bowie.  He’s pitched 4.1, 4, 4 innings in 2 starts and relief.   That’s 12.1 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 HB, 17 K (0 runs).   He’s getting into the “interesting” conversation.

I just noticed his stats this morning. He is on a roll with three straight scoreless starts of four innings each. Get him up to AA.
