I don't love it.  I don't really even like it.

I think Phillies probably won the trade.   They get Hays as their everyday 28 year old left fielder who is under their control through 2025.  He will probably do well for them until he gets hurt.

I don't see how Hays is an everyday player. Marsh hits over .800 vs RHP, he is just unplayable vs LHP.

I think it was a good need-for-need trade. Dominguez has not had the best year but he has great stuff and closing experience. If he is the only arm we get I will be disappointed but I can see him bringing value. I am bummed that we DFA'd Nittoli.

Meanwhile, our 5th OF now has the ability to play CF while opening up opportunities for Kjerstad and Cowser to face LHP.

Shame to lose Vinnie Nittoli. He only threw four innings but he was good enough to get more. Why not option Baker?

They needed the 40 man spot as well.  They are guessing Nittoli makes it through waivers.

Just watched highlights (lowlights) from last night and can easily say that if Hays was in left field we win the game.

Kierstadt doesn't look like an OF'er, apparently Mayo can't play anywhere.

Are we heading back to the Buck years with 5 DH's on the roster??

Honestly get Pache was stupid …. Especially if Philly isn’t paying his salary. It’s dumping $400,000 in the trash if you DFA him. He can’t hit and you have an offensively challenged team that can’t afford someone worse than the guy you traded.

It wouldn't be flushing the money, it would just be adding to the cost of Dominguez. $400k is nothing.

I like the move.  I would have liked to have gotten a better arm, but I think it's a pretty fair trade.  Philly's probably grade out slightly higher, but which team fairs better this year because of the trade depends on a number of factors.

The move does create some space for our young OF, but Pache is likely just a late inning replacement and that likely just shifts the pressure elsewhere.

Also think Hays' comments are entirely overblown.  What the hell was he supposed to say getting traded from the #2 team so far to the #1?

Lastly, in the same way moving Mancini to Houston was good for us and good for a respected Oriole, I like the opportunity Hays will have in Philly.

Pache through 2027 …but I’m guessing he doesn’t last the season. Dominquez for 2 months

Dominguez does have an 8M option. If he's lights out the rest of the year, I imagine we exercise it.
