Just play good enough to get a wildcard spot if Grayson is going to be out for a month and Soto cannot be trusted in high leverage situations for now. The Rangers weren't a great regular season team last year, but they were ready for the postseason.

They also had like 8 starters even after injuries.

I’m just hoping that Grayson, having had a previous lat injury, caught this one a little more quickly and can recover faster than he did in 2022.   But that’s probably wishful thinking.

Still, better this than an elbow or a shoulder.   The worst this injury can do is screw up the rest of 2024.

I absolutely don’t see us winning the division if Grayson is out for the rest of the year.  That’s one body blow too many.

They would be lucky to make the playoffs at all if Grayson is done. It's just unbelievable how many injuries this team has endured...4 starters now, Danny, and before that Felix..then Westburg, Mateo, and even McCann....just too much to overcome...I have no faith in our pen and little or no faith in Rogers,Just a shame we lost our best pitchers. This COULD have  been a great season..injuries are everything.

Over!  Did somebody say over!?  Nothing is over until we decide it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

All the more reason that Papa Rubenstein needs to open his pocketbook this offseason and get multiple starters. And good ones.

Hoping Grayson caught it early and it’s not season ending. And hopefully not multiple seasons. But man, lost so many starters. But this is why it was indefensible to go into this season thinking Means would be a fixture and healthy.

This is the same issue he had before right?

Yes. Even described as lat discomfort when it first occurred.

It actually may be that he goes to the pen for the playoffs.

Means AND Bradish. I think most of us knew we needed more than just Burnes.

Totally agree it's a gut punch.

Yet, giving up on the season is an overreaction IMO. As an Oriole fan there is always hope, by definition!

To be more specific, for example look at the start Grayson's replacement gave tonight. Some guy named Suarez.

Who? On the season, here are the most basic results stats:

Rodriquez: 116.2 IP, 3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP
Suarez: 83.2 IP, 3.66, ERA, 1.34 WHIP

There’s been some rough luck, for sure. The team isn’t struggling because of a lone risk on John Means. This season just isn’t been kind.

Sucks. But sometimes you lose the attrition war.

The team made the acquisitions it did because Suarez wasn’t a long term solution. If he winds up back in the rotation at the cost of their No. 2, things are grim.
