Climbing the list of most O’s wins in two consecutive seasons

With their win tonight, the O’s have won 178 games the last two seasons.  Here are the 20 other O’s teams that have won that many or more in consecutive seasons:

1969-70: 217

1970-71: 209

1979-80: 202

1968-69: 200

1978-79: 192

1982-83: 192

1964-65: 191

1965-66: 191

1973-74: 188

1977-78: 187

1996-97: 186

1976-77: 185

1960-61: 184

2022-23: 184

1983-84: 183

1971-72: 181

1974-75: 181

2013-14: 181

1975-76: 178

2012-13: 178

With 29 games remaining, the two top spots on this list are mathematically out of reach, and the next two spots are probably unreachable as a practical matter.  But all the rest are in play, and a 16-13 finish would put the 2023-24 O’s in the top five on this list.  So, the l’ll be watching as the current O’s make their assault on this list to see how high they can climb.

The 2024 team moved into a tie for 16th place in Orioles history with 181 wins in consecutive seasons, tying the teams from 1971-72, 1974-75 and 2013-14.   With their next win, they will have won more games in consecutive years than any of the teams during the Duquette-Showalter era.   (Actually, they did that in 2022-23 too).

Should Mike Elias be relieved of his duties?

With tonight’s win, the 2023-24 O’s tie the 1983-84 teams at 183 wins, tied for 15th most of any Orioles team in consecutive seasons.   

Also, with 82 wins this year, the O’s have had three consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 2012-14.

A good place to remind everyone that the Trevor Rogers trade was terrible, Elias is arrogant, Vance Honeycutt is already a bust and things are just overall awful.

Yesterday the O’s reached 184 wins over consecutive seasons, tying the 1960-61 and 2022-23 teams for 13th place on the list.  The 1960-61 teams, by the way, were the first two modern Orioles teams to have a winning record.
