9/15: Bowie Ends Their Season With Loss In Extras

Both Bowie and Erie tried to give the season finale away, but only Bowie succeeded.

First, Erie threw a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to allow Bowie to tie the game.

Then in the 10th, Erie brought in first baseman Austin Murr to pitch.  Even though he’s not really a pitcher, the first thing Murr did was pick off the free base runner, Enrique Bradfield Jr.  How embarrassing is that?   But Bowie scored a run anyway to go ahead 4-3.

Then 1B/P Murr led off the bottom of the 10th and hit a gapper that scored the tying run.   Murr decided to try for a triple, and Frederick Bencosme rewarded him by making an errant throw that allowed Murr to come home with the winning, season ending run.  It was Bowie’s third error of the game.

Happy end of season, Baysox.
