Do we agree that developing Kjerstad RF, Holliday 2B and Mayo 1B/DH.......

is one of the main goals of the 2025 season?

All three go to ST with that in mind.   Not all three have to break camp as regulars or even in be in the majors to start the season.   But by mid season these guys should be regulars.   This should be part of the plan to improve the O's playoff chances IMO.

What say you?

I think the FO/fanbase was hoping for at least the platoon option of Heston/Mayo in RF to replace Santa.

Can either one of them play out there defensively?

I have been pretty happy with Kjerstad's defense in the outfield corners.   Not that I want him in left at home.

I agree with what Elias said about Mayo's body type being more suited for 1B.

Maybe not to everyone.  Some may think one or more could be traded.  Just like to see what the OH thinks.

Well sure they could be traded but if they are here, obviously their development is near the top of the list.

Is Mayo 3B off the table?

According to Elias Mayo's 3B defensive development is behind his 1B development.   To get his bat in the lineup 1B/DH seems like his quickest path the majors.

He could still workout at 3B and play there in certain situations but that is not where he will see most of his playing time in the majors according to Elias comment.

I think you’ve got to go into ST with the hope that all three are able to be every day players but also have a solid backup plan that doesn’t include guaranteeing big contracts or a lot of playing time to others.

It feels like Mayo at 1st has been in the cards for quite awhile. Mountcastle and O’Hearn gotta go. Kjerstad is a DH, not an OF unless absolutely necessary. And Holliday is just gonna have to figure himself out at 2B. I’m all for moving him to RF and moving Westburg to 2B and Urias staying on 3B but who knows if that’s even feasible.

Mayo at 3B is an oblong peg in a round hole. You could wedge him in there but he really doesn't fit. Westberg has shown that he is a much better option there, IMHO.

Where else are you playing Holiday? He seems to have a solid skillset for 2B that needs to be refined a bit. I believe in his bat and think he will hit. Is he the guy you groom to lead off? That would be my strategy if I were making decisions. He will continue to develop the bat to ball skills necessary, he has the speed. His sneaky power makes him dangerous at the top of the order where first pitch fastballs are still relatively common.

Silent J is a logical replacement for Santander. Hopefully Santander gets a QO and rejects it. LH power plays at OPACY.

I would think developing our top rookies would always be a goal. For next year however, free agent signings and trades will influence any "main" goals relative to these three.

I think of it differently.   I think keeping the  top 4 prospects in Holliday, Kjerstad, Mayo and Basallo  will influence who the O's add.   These 4 are keepers to build around for the next 6 years.   They will help keep the payroll low while providing improving performance.

A year ago the O's had a surplus of position players in the top levels of the organization.    Elias decided to trade Joey Ortiz,  Norby, Stowers, Hovath, Etzel and Billy Cook to fill holes.    This thined out the prospects at the higher levels.

So I don't see the top four being traded for many years.   They will become part of the O's core players at the major league level IMO.

I could see against tough lefties Holiday sits, Westy at 2B, and Mayo at 3B.  Or Holiday at SS to spell Gunnar sometimes too and this being the configuration.

But yes, most of Holiday at 2B, Westy at 3B and Mayo DH or 1B.
