Are the Orioles committed to winning?

You're funny. :D

Honestly, I have spent a lot of time talking with JTrea. I thought he had a lot of potential at one point. I no longer feel that way.

Me too.

By nature, I don't expect anybody to agree with me, I think disagreement is fine. I also don't hold on to things past the moment. I say whatever I say in the moment, and I let others do the same without keeping score or holding grudges. It's very rare for me to have a negative attitude about anybody, and that's true even if we take pot-shots at each other in the heat of the moment. I think all that is just fine. I realize that message-board behavior is different and less-kind than real life behavior, and I'm as guilty of participating in that as anybody. The folks here I respect the most include some who I've had sharp exchanges with. I'm not saying the tenor of my presence is good or bad, just reporting on how I experience things, that's all.

JTrea has single-handedly made himself an exception to that, and the reason is not his opinions, it's the manner in which he relentlessly beats people over the head, refuses to listen, ignores the points made by those who expend effort trying to reason with him, and hijacks thread after thread, repeating his locked-in-stone opinions that he's already said 27 times. Apparently, he thinks this kind of crap makes him a noble character. It doesn't. For me, it makes me wish he would go somewhere else, and that's got absolutely nothing to do with disagreement. It's got everything to do with overtly knucklehead behavior that effects everybody else in virtually every thread. Trying to talk with him is like talking to the dang wall... except the wall doesn't hijack thread after thread after thread saying dumb stuff again and again and again. Post for post, there are a couple folks here who reliably say bizarro stuff that's as goofy, and often far goofier, than what JTrea says... but they don't cram it down everybody's throat, while completely disregarding others, to nearly the same degree, which is why they don't generate nearly as much animosity.

I used to get annoyed at the trail of broken, dead horses, that continued to be bludgeoned then I saw the Hitler/Tex video. Now, pretty much every post I read I see the hilarity of that video as a fresh picture in my mind and I just can't be annoyed. It's like Henry Winkler in Waterboy seeing Jerry Reed with a babies face, how can you get upset?

    • Goes right back to Ted Williams. Get a good pitch to hit and drive it.
    • There was an attempt to debunk this article in the other O'Hearn thread where it's the OP, but in it O'Hearn explains that his efforts to change launch angle and severely limit when he swings underlie the improved performance since coming to the Orioles.
    • I'm thinking that Suarez can be that extra high leverage arm the O's need.  Someone who can take some of the closing pressure off Kimbrel.  No, Hyde, the closer doesn't have to get every save.  I hate when Hyde uses every high leverage arm in a single game then the next game you just have the B squad.
    • Would have been nice for his campaign if he had been allowed to go 8 or even go for the shutout.
    • He looked much more pull happy when he was up, with bigger leg lift. In the minors he seem to handle pitches away much better, taking them to left and left center.
    • I've got to think that as long as we keep winning we trade for some bullpen help.  Kimbrel is fine and it's good that he's a vet that figure stuff out in between outings, but he's 35 and can't be relied on for nearly the same workload as we leaned on Felix for.
    • Ever since the discussions of Bradish and Means going on the IL and getting a late start to their seasons, I have felt that Irvin would stick as a starter.  He is more suited to be in the rotation than he is to be a relief pitcher. And this past 4 weeks he is showing why.  He can give you 180-190 innings this season if you keep putting confidence in him.  It would be nice to have 2 decent lefties in our rotation with 1 RHP sandwiched in between them. But truth be told I don't think John Means can last more than 2 months before some type of ailment nags his body.
