According to this ESPN article, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State set to join Pac-10.

Texas A&M still debating Pac 10 or SEC...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5276668

Gene Stallings was on Finebaum this afternoon and basically said (without actually saying it) that he's tired of Texas A&M always taking a back seat to Texas and doing whatever Texas wants and that he'd prefer that A&M go to the SEC. Everything I've read though says that even though A&M may want to go to the SEC, political realities are going to force them to go to the PAC-10.

So many interesting stories... I am honestly fascinated by the unfolding drama. :D

And these are our institutions of higher learning? This country is in trouble.

The Big "10" has been eleven for twenty years. Just wait until everything falls out and the ACC has to start taking schools from non-Atlantic states.

Maybe if the Florida schools jump to the SEC soon enough, we could pick up schools like KU and KSU and maybe a C-USA school like Louisville and some Big East leftovers like UConn and make one awesome basketball conference.

It is a big drama - big $, regional, institutional, athletic and academic pride, multi-sport issues (did anyone see the candid interview with Bill Self), and decades long relationships being severed.

A very interesting development...

http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1093803

Three different sources at Big 12 South schools being targeted by the Pac-10 told Orangebloods.com Sunday morning that Dan Beebe's attempts to secure a new TV deal on par with the SEC's $17 million/school payout for the 10 remaining schools in the Big 12 is in play.

The sources said they are proceeding cautiously with the new information provided by Beebe.

But the information might slow down the rocket-like pace of Big 12 schools seeking a new home and possibly draw all the divided parties back to the table...

But with news that Texas is now seriously considering the Beebe Plan, there is a growing chance the Big 12, which is now at 10 schools (the Big Ten, by the way, is now at 12 schools) just might survive after all.

Stay tuned.

I expect the Big 12 to survive. Each school that leaves has to give the conference truckloads of money to leave... plus the conference has an automatic BCS berth, plus long term bowl contracts, etc. All of those things are valuable assets, so it would be insane to fold the conference. The Big 12 will have a different cast of characters, but it's not gonna fold...

As we recently discovered (or, more accurately, were finally informed) there is a formula that determines eligibility for an automatic BCS berth. At the same time, by rule, a conference can lose its automatic BCS berth too. Depending on who the Big 12 loses, and who they replace them with if they choose to press on, that berth could be in serious jeopardy as soon as 2013.

With the addition of Boise St, I wonder how much more the Mountain West would have to add to "take away" the Big 12's BCS bid.

If the Big 12 stays at ten schools, then the landscape remains fairly intact, but if five of the schools rumored to be leaving, do- it's possible that the Big 12 will keep their five remaining schools and absorb the MWC, therefore maintaining their BCS standing.

Also, if Texas A&M does join the SEC, that league will be looking to add another school. Many interesting options.

According to ESPN, Texas is staying in Big 12.

Not so fast.....as of 12:03pm ET

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5284375

The departure of Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the Pac-10 is imminent, four sources within the Big 12 said Monday.

One source said commissioner Dan Beebe's last-minute plan to save the conference has "zero" chance to succeed. Another source said it is "very unlikely" to succeed.
