O's broadcasters called it a "great off-speed pitch". ESPN shows it as a slider. I'm not watching the game, but it sounded like Matt was sitting on a fastball and got a quality off-speed pitch. Sounds like a good pitch, not a bad take.

ESPN's wrong. It registered 92 on the gun. Maybe it was a cutter, but it definitely wasn't offspeed seeing as Archer was sitting around 92-93.

EDIT: Also, Thorne regularly calls blatant fastballs off-speed pitches. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that he tends to watch the game itself more than the monitor, hence he's often essentially guessing.

I'm not thrilled about the at bat but he does lead the team in RBI. So if he's coming up small in important situations how do we define the rest of the teams performance?

Exactly. Wieters is a leader on this team, he's had some pretty big moments for the Orioles this year. It's not going to happen every time we want it to.
