A DD dumpster diving investment paying off. He gave Agon a chance to get at bats then dealt him to a team where he can potentially start. Doing this for guys like Agon and Neshek others will only help us in the future get the best of the "prove yourself" type of players.

Moving onto Lombardozzi. I like the guy. Almost 2 years younger than Flaherty. More big leauge experience and more minor league success. Flaherty is better defensively and has more pop but I like them both. With Cruz as the DH. We have a guy who can play LF,RF. Lough can play CF for a game. With a 4 man bench Flaherty and Lombardozzi can both fit and both have options. Right now as I see it with Machado on the DL I see Schoop starting at 2nd and Flaherty at 3rd. The bench will be Clevenger,Almanzar, Lombardozzi and Pearce.

Peguero, Escalona, Machado to the DL

Reimold DFA'd

Aceves added to the 40 man and OD roster.

  • 4 weeks later...

Tigers released SS Alex Gonzalez.

Well, that didn't last long. Desperate for a replacement for Jose Iglesias, the Tigers traded Steve Lombardozzi for Gonzalez in a late-spring deal. The veteran infielder wound up lasting just three weeks, as he hit just .167/.219/.233 while showing diminished range in the field. The Tigers will go with Andrew Romine and Danny Worth at shortstop. So, yeah...Lombardozzi for free.
