Good find. EV, effective velocity OR change of pace, combined with what he refers to as "tunneling" makes for an interesting combination of events.

"What he found, over and over again, was that whenever a pitcher's spread (the difference in reactionary speed from one pitch to the next) reached or exceeded 6 mph — and especially when those pitches followed a similar path from the pitcher's hand to the plate, a skill Husband refers to as "tunneling" — hitters stood little chance of making solid contact."
