Orioles Trade Targets?

Who's over rating him? It was never about that. It was about looking at our depth of young pitching and having a bridge to them.

Bottom line: I'd still prefer one year of Burnett, who has pitched better after a slow start, to three more years of Jimenez. Even if he tanks the rest of the year, with the emergence of Gausman, Burnett or any other short term option would have been a better bet.

Jimenez has been awful, agreed. Having said that, I don't want a guy who doesn't want to pitch here. Pass. Enough with this guy....

Is Burnett a rental? Pretty sure he has one of those contracts where next year, the team can opt in for X, and if the team doesn't, the player can opt in for less than X.

Emergence, pretty funny term to apply to Burnett. His best years are ahead of him? Submerge is a better term. I really don't want him. He was offered contracts to play here. It would be stupid to sign a self absorbed player.

He wasn't applying the word "emergence" to Burnett. He was applying it to Gausman.

Patton is a big time strike out guy over his minor league career though is 26 now. He has been converted to a closer this season for their AAA team and been pretty good there.

A showcase has been scheduled for Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo to show interested major league teams what he has to offer, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. The showcase is currently set to take place in Miami on July 26. ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick calls Castilo "a potential impact CF with speed, good glove and more power than a Brett Gardner or Billy Hamilton."

Here's what Ben Badler of Baseball America had to say about Castillo after he was declared a free agent back on June 6: "Scouts don't expect Castillo to be an immediate impact player along the lines of Yoenis Cespedes or Jose Abreu, but several scouts who have seen Castillo before he left and since he has been in the Dominican Republic have been impressed, though there's a split on whether he profiles as an everyday player or a fourth outfielder."

"At 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, Castillo has good strength for his relatively short stature and is an athletic player whose best tool is his plus-plus speed. He was one of the better base stealers in Cuba, going 22-for-29 in steals in 2011-12 to rank third in the league in stolen bases, one year after leading the league with 29 bags in 35 attempts."

The Los Angeles Dodgers attended a private workout that Castillo held back in January, prior to his being available on the free agent market. It would not be surprising to see the Dodgers, especially given the presence of Yasiel Puig on their roster and the signing of Alex Guerrero, to end up with Castillo in the fold as well. Doing so could certainly give them even more flexibility to deal away one of their current outfielders, such as Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp or Carl Crawford to upgrade other areas of need.

:thumbsup1: What do you say?
