There is a problem, Gary. He's a 1 and a half pitch pitcher.

Crash Davis: You got a gift. When you were a baby, the Gods reached down and turned your right arm into a thunderbolt. You got a Hall-of-Fame arm, but you're pissing it away.

Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: I ain't pissing nothing away. I got a Porsche already; a 911 with a quadrophonic Blaupunkt.

Crash Davis: Christ, you don't need a quadrophonic Blaupunkt! What you need is a curveball! In the show, everyone can hit heat.

He'll be fine. Maybe not tonight, but he will be fine.

Yes, but every rookie pitcher has their ups and downs, and that inconsistency and learning curve and adjustments can take a couple years to work through. Not good for playoffs and World Series.

Maybe average, but he hasn't been bad/terrible.

He's been average with a lot of luck to not be bad. He has been fortunate to face some bad offenses during this recent stretch of his. If he wasn't playing teams like the Cubs and Mariners and Cardinals, his numbers would be a lot worse.

First of all, Schoop shouldn't have come home. He gets the second out if he throws to first. Then its a 1-0 game. Even getting the Longoria blunder its still a manageable inning.Balls were hit hard but the biggest problem was Gausman's command. He can't get away with it in the big leagues if he's always behind.

Command is a huge part of what makes a pitcher good. Gausman doesn't have it, therefore he's just not that good. He hasn't been very good in last several starts, unless 5IP and 100 pitches is good. He was talked about as being a future number one, but he's pitching like a big number 2.

But even the ball hit to Schoop was hit on the screws, that's why the play at the plate was so close. He hit the hell out of it and it got to Schoop quickly.
