Toronto looking for New President to be Duquette.

Apologies if this has been suggested, but why not try getting the Commissioner involved and have this arbitrated? While I'm not sure I care for how Angelos handles things, he's right that Duq is under contract, and Toronto almost certainly has unfairly tampered with him - which has put the O's in a somewhat unfair position. And Toronto apparently isn't budging. Meanwhile, this is hampering the O's and could turn into a much uglier situation.

The commissioner has to turnover his emails in a legal discovery. He does not love us. Besides. I've got to admit it's getting better

(Better)

A little better all the time

(It couldn't get no worse)

I have to admit it's getting better

That might be the worst possible thing to do. MLB is probably licking their chops for this to happen.

Seriously is there another organization in professional sports that would have allowed this situation to fester for this long?

Pretty easy to say that we are back to being the most dysfunctional organization in sports.

Kudos to Nick Markakis for escaping, JJ sorry you extended with the O's

I've totally changed my opinion on DD leaving. With MLB's involvement in this, I say unless we get a haul, make DD stick it out. Take away all of his power but leave him with his salary and title for 4 years. Heck put Blue Jay's fatheads up all over his office. Only speak to him in French. You know, be really mature about it. #benedictarnold

That's pretty funny.

And Kudos to you. For all you do.

I think the worst possible thing is to let this thing keep lingering. Duq may be doing his best for the O's, but how can any opposing GM or agent or significant player take him seriously under the circumstances? And who knows if the O's have lost out on various opportunities already.

How is this the O's fault? Seems to me that letting it fester is the reason why we're in line to get a nice return.

A month ago everyone just wanted Dan to get to go, because that is the protocol. We would never have known about Big Ed, and Randy.

Because Angelos in his insatiable desire to win the deal, has overplayed his hand and will wind up with nothing but a dis-gruntled, less effective GM.

Not to mention that the O's have no one running the show during a critical off-season.

I'll say it again it took the Ravens 48 hours to replace their OC, and another 24 to replace their QB coach.

Anyone want to wager against my premise that the O's will either have a shell of DD, or an acting GM in place of DD for the rest of this baseball season?

What an absurd take on this. The Orioles are 100% in the right on this. Toronto is the bungling organization here, and the commissioner has plenty of egg on his face, as well. Push come to shove, MLB simply can't come down on the side of condoning tampering. The precedent that would set would be disastrous. They, no doubt, realize that PA isn't going to back down on this and, IMO, the longer it takes, the better. I think MLB will eventually have to push Toronto into offering enough to appease PA.

How is your wager record these last three seasons? Baseball related. Oh, don't bother. I'll go back and look.

I guess you have it all figured out, huh? Must be from over analyzing all those Ken Rosenthal and Dan Connolly tweets, what with all of the reliable information they have on this situation. Give me a break.

I'll gladly take your bet if DD even stays. I think he's gone some time before the season starts.

    • “Dramatics”? That’s an interesting way of framing my opinion. I promise you I am as calm and cool as a cucumber. There’s no “dramatics” going on here. As you know, numbers fluctuate during any given period of time in the season. Good/great players have bad/cold stretches and bad/terrible players have good stretches. IMO we do not possess the type of top end talent at the back end of the bullpen needed to win multiple rounds against the best opposition in October.  If you are confident in Cano/Kimbrel or worse in Vespi/Baker/Perez/etc getting Soto and Judge out in a big spot late in the game in Yankee stadium in October, that is fine. I am not.  Just as an observer of baseball, Holmes is a much better pitcher than any reliever that we have. I would be much more confident in his talent than any reliever that we have. Now if we had Felix that would be one thing. But this season we do not. And I would hate for a team as good as ours to be held back by not making the needed/necessary move(s) before we get into October.  IMO we did that last season (with the starting pitching) and it didn’t end well. And I acknowledge that everybody doesn’t think like me nor have the same championship expectations/aspirations. Some fans/posters here have stated as much and that they are happy if we have a winning team year after year or if we just make it into the tournament year after year, regardless of results when we get there. And that’s fine. That’s just not my desired outcome. The great thing about this board is that we don’t have to agree and are able to express our opinions.
    • That’s right. Great times are here and more ahead with this group.
    • Over/under on the number of times we walk Judge and Soto in this series?   10?  Nobody else really worries me.
    • 2 days in a row we got some help from the RedSox
    • I'm going to need photographic evidence the head cheerleader is hot.  This is a totally scholastic endeavor.
    • He's elite in 17 other high school intramural sports and is dating the head cheerleader, so no issue.
