This was his 7th ML appearance and his 4th start. It was his first bad one. What exactly are you expecting?

It's only been 24 innings, but he's not striking anyone out. He's not going to make it the Majors if he can't get his K rate up. It was 7.8 in the Minors, 2.6 in the Majors in a real small sample. Even in 24 IP, I expect more than a 2.6 K rate from a guy who is ML ready. If he settles into a 6 K/9 guy in the Majors, he'll be playing in Asia I suspect.

But, but pitch-to-contact.

The O's have used him pretty well this year and needed more of him when he was hurt. He's got a good GB% of 50.2% that would rank him 20ish in all of MLB if he had the qualifying innings. 4 of his 5 starts have been on the road. I think he's a really good spot starter option for next year. He's shown a lot more pitch-ability than Wright.
