Eh Arizona did save $6.5M By finally ditching Hill.

They also got younger by going from Hill (34) to Segura (26). And Segura gives them defense at SS. I'd call that a minor upgrade with potential for more.

Wagner and Diaz are essentially a prospect swap since Wagner's service time hasn't kicked in yet. Wagner had a terrific year in AA last year.

The odd piece to the deal is Chase Anderson. I suppose he's the difference between Hill and Segura. He's a young and serviceable starting pitcher, good throw in for Milwaukee.

Yeah this is kind of an odd deal. I assume Milwaukee gets some use out of Anderson before flipping him later. I read that the Anderson addition knocks OH favorite Davies out of the starting rotation.

Mat Latos remains on the open market in part because of a perceived attitude problem. One NL official believes that he needs some discipline to stay in line. “You would need a strong manager to keep him in line and acting the way you want him to act. A Buck Showalter, a Bruce Bochy, a Dusty Baker. The guy really competes, but he just gets too outspoken for his own good,” the official said.

Still a good option for us...

This sounds like it's all about his remarks on being traded by CIN, where Dusty was the manager BTW. Is there anything else but that flap? That's like saying Manny is a trouble maker because of the bat incident.

I read that Segura will play second.

I think it's technically still up in the air. Owings should be closer to fully healthy with a healthy offseason workout behind him, so I assume he, Segura and Ahmed will get at least some consideration.

I guess so. I know he has a supposedly famous wife, and he has been outspoken, but from what I saw in that article (I will admit I didn't read it like I was going to write my thesis on it), he was complaining about things being done in the wrong way...in a way that doesn't help you win. Was it the right forum? No. But, at least he wasn't defending those who appeared to be doing things in a half assed way.

Stewart also said they are signing no one else. Protecting the comp pick and receiving calls on infielders.
