At a certain point it doesn't matter as much what team has to pay him unless it inhibits them from making other deals. They obviously wanted him. More important to me is how much he will help them and how much this deal may effect the market in regards to us.

It's obvious that the market on middle of the road left-handers with no picks attached is extraordinarily high in the early stages of the off season. If we try to sign Kazmir next week we will overpay. He is not someone that is going to help that team much. But he will hold down a spot that they needed filled for a price that they felt they could afford.
