Also those of you discussing Urrutia's age versus his development: yes, he is 29, but he didn't go pro in the US until he was 26. In reality we're discussing a third year pro here.

You don't think the Cuban league is a professional league?

How come so many other players come over from Cuba and don't take 3+ years to "develop"?

But, most cuban players, PUIG included, when they come over, they are not as developed as some of our college players.

When talking about being fundamentally baseball sound.

Henry's problems are not his fundamentals.

He could have Cal Jr level fundamentals and he still wouldn't be more than a fringe major league player.

What? Maybe you could spot-check a couple dozen Cuban players and US college player and then give us an analysis of how the Cubans have poorer fundamentals.

Otherwise I'm going to assume you took Puig's and maybe Cespedes' attitude/personal issues/rumors and extrapolated out poor baseball fundamentals to an entire country.

How is it that these fundamental lightweights regularly crush teams of US college players?

I was going by an LA Dodger reporter talking about Mattingly and Puig. They said Puig still needs to be reminded things, that they teach our guys in college, cutoff men, counting outs, which base to throw too.

They said it was typical of a Cuban player, to be very skilled and conditioned, but lacking some of the basic stuff.
