Tell you what, I'd be fine with a Bourne/Alvarez platoon. Dariel Alvarez is always overlooked by the Orioles, but if used in the right way, I think he could provide value against lefties and hang in there against righties.

I think Alvarez makes this club last year, if Pedro hadn't been signed to that cheap contract, and DD was being all-in for the playoff, couldn't pass up the veteran bat in the lineup, and I really don't blame him either.

This seemed right on the money for me.  I was thinking Pearce and Alvarez would basically get the same contracts.  Pearce will provide them great value, especially if they only play him at 1B and DH.  

We missed out on this.  We should have matched this.
