O's' are 8-6 in May

There seems to be one bummer thread after another so here is a little perspective.

The O's have a 4.24 ERA in May.  That ranks them 7th in the AL in May.  One point better than the Yankees at 4.25,   Boston is 7-7 with a 4.58 in May.   The Jays are 9-6 in May but with an  ERA  of 4.50.  Tampa is the only AL East team with a better ERA than the O's with a 3.85 in May but the are only  8-8.

The O's ERA at the end of 2016 was 4.22.  So not the much has changed.

So before jumping out a window let's understand that though the O's pitching is not as good as we would like, others have as many or more problems.  And overall the O's pitching is somewhere around where its been for some time including when the O's made the playoffs last year.

Good big picture perspective.   I believe it's specifically the bullpen that has everyone worried though.  That was supposed to be our strength this year, and lately no lead is safe.

Maybe the pen at the moment but Gausman, Jimenez, Tillman and Miley all have their concerns and then there is Bundy's innings.   I think the whole staff is up for discussion.  We just have to understand that every other team has problems also.

We expected the starting pitching to be erratic.   We've been spoiled with great bullpens the last 5 years and right now we're experiencing how the other half lives.

My thoughts exactly. Well said.

8-6, Not bad... and mostly weak teams for the rest of the month

Yeah, well, remember the Royals series?  Let's not count those eggs just yet...  Just find a way to win and for the love of god stop walking so many opposing hitters.

It's easy to forget we had a six game winning streak going until the bullpen blew last Wednesday's game in DC.     Hopefully we can get rolling again.

We have not played well on the road in the last few years.  All we have to do is play around .500 this season on the road if we can do that I love our chances.  So far 21 road games and 16 home games.  13-3 at home and 10-11 on the road.

May OPS leaders so far:

Davis 1.139

Mancini 1.021

Smith .979

Joseph .881

Trumbo .874

Manny and Davis lead in RBI, with 10, and in homers, with 5.   The two of them, and Trumbo, each have  scored 10 runs.
