Lol that makes no sense. Cain made $11M last year.  A fair offer should get almost 2 years for the price of $26-30M.  Why would you want Cain for 1/22 but not 2/30?  I understand Arrietta and Darvish holding out into the year until after teams see they are in need of pitching, that makes a ton of sense for those players who feel they aren't getting legit offers now, for the rest of the list, they are just asking for far too much. And if these players wait until next year, I don't see how they are better off next off season.  The teams working to get under the luxury cap have specific players in mind already.  Maybe they can get more money from the teams that lose out on Machado, Harper, Kershaw etc, but they are at the top of the talent list this year, most of them get pushed into the bottom half next off season.

How does this affect anyone that the Orioles may be targeting?  Particularly CarGo and Moustakas?  Does it affect their market at all?

It was a strong contract for Cain, considering the compensation as well.
