Hopefully he goes to one of the NL teams. The top teams are all bunched together pretty closely, with 10 teams within 7 games of the division or wild card.

Hopefully we can use that to our advantage and get someone to over pay to not only help themselves, but to also keep him from another team close in the standings.

This. Trade Manny right now.

Perhaps the thinking is that we need to wait to see if more teams can be drawn in as they assess their records/chances nearer the deadline, perhaps they want to see Manny as an O's All-Star once more, but we could end up with bupkis if Manny gets injured. Just think of Britton last season.
