The Orioles had to be hoping a player like Sanchez would come along before this signing period closes on June 15, 2019, allowing new GM Mike Elias to add a premium individual talent to the farm system. Sources speculated to us that clubs that have not yet verbally allocated most of their 2019 signing pool can offer Sanchez millions and hope he waits a few more months to sign, though this may be a means of trying to keep Baltimore honest and force them to use most of their pool to sign Sanchez, rather than offering an amount that’s slightly more than the club with the second-highest remaining 2018 international bonus pool.

Sanchez draws mixed reviews for his offensive potential, but scouts agree he has above average-to-plus running, fielding, and throwing tools, and he will stick at shortstop. The Orioles took two shortstops with their Rule 5 Draft picks in December and the position is seen as an organizational weakness at the upper levels for the rebuilding club.

above average-to-plus”

I would not have guessed those were two unique ideas, honestly.

20=20

Poor/well below average = 30

Below Average = 40

Fringe Average = 45

Average = 50

Above Average = 55

Plus = 60

Double plus = 70

80=80

At least that's how I use it. The 40-60 descriptions are pretty standard.

Several teams have the $ to sign him if his value is in the $2.4M range as speculated.  The Os might have to offer $1M more than other teams to be assured of the signing and that is something most folks who have run our organization for some time have been loathe to do.  I would think our current GM is not eager to sign someone who asks significantly more from the Os than another team.

Still, between the Dodgers potential fiasco and the guy, there may be some opportunities opening up to spend our allocated international pool which would be nice.

Don't worry. Brady's on the case. He's listening to a Rosetta Stone Spanish 101 podcast on his bike commute home from the Warehouse and will soon be washing down his plate of ropa vieja with Skinny Girl mojitos. No word yet on if he's willing to convert to communism, but he's got this!
