SInce we're 2-2 above the TIgers, shouldn't GB be 0.0.

I ask today, though I wouldn't dare start a Player DFA's thread in the main board, because I just saw the Astros planning to DFA Tony Kemp with Correa's return, and am wondering if the Tigers or Orioles would have 1st AL priority.  I do think Kemp is a little more interesting player than formerly famous relievers being weeded out by medium good teams around now.

Yes, sorry about that... it was an oversight. I think I'm going to stop updating as often as I do, because the OP provides the link to Tankathon, who already does the work within a short time after the finish of every game. :)

I'm no expert, but the Tigers probably have first shot.

FYI... The Tigers have gone 12-51 since starting the season 18-20.  That's a .190 winning % during this current awful streak.

The Tigers are going to be pretty tough to catch. They have a total of 3 position players above 0.3 rWAR, and one of them (Castellanos), will almost definitely not be on the team in three days.

I was feeling that way too, but I just peeked at the next couple weeks and we have 13 straight Yankees/Astros/Red Sox games after this Toronto series.  The Tigers open an 11-game homestand against the White Sox, Royals and Mariners...

I half want to say the Tigers short term juju will be better because they did what most probably expected whereas Givens in the end didn't pitch well enough to become anyone's priority.

Don’t think we have a chance in hell of catching The Tigers for the #1 pick. Been in Detroit for the last week watching them on local TV, and am at the day game right now. As bad as the Orioles are I doubt that a single current Tiger position player is good enough to crack our lineup, and their pitching is probably a step down from us as well. I’d be surprised if these guys won 10 games the rest of the way.

We are technically only 1 GB right now. Over the next week, the O's get the Red Sox and Royals. The Tigers get the Rays and the Astros. Hard to see us making up any ground in that stretch. After that, the Tigers get the Twins so it's hard to find wins there either. Never know, I guess.

Yeah, it'll be a challenge to catch the Tigers. I'll be happy to get a #2 pick, if that's what happens. Updated after today's (8/15/19) games:

Picked up another game on Detroit tonight, which makes four games picked up out of the last ten. As bad as the Tigers are I didn’t think that was possible. This whole suck-tastic race could be determined by the four game series in Detroit mid September. They took two out of three at Camden Yards earlier in the season, and if they win three at CoAmerica that may be all she wrote.

Anybody know what the tie breaker procedure is if both teams end up with the same record?

Here are the current standings... updated after Friday's (8/16) games:
Win % is the key, not Games Back. If the Orioles have the exact same Win % as another team at season's end, the Orioles will get the higher pick.
