I do think that’s a consideration.   Roberts has only been on the Shorebirds in the second half, following Daniel Fajardo’s promotion.   Neither he nor Breazeale have hit much, but you can’t knock the team’s results.   Not an easy call.

Another thought is he might want to give Delmarva fans a look at Rutschman since I doubt he will start there next year. Selfishly, I'm going to be in OC next week so I hope so I can catch him next Friday at home.

I'm rooting for it.  I don't know whether Grayson Rodriguez and Adley Rutschman have even met in real life yet, but I feel like for both of them a little taste of competition together would help them hit the ground running with the Keys next spring.

It broadly falls into the same category of Means getting a cup of coffee last year like I'm hoping for Akin to soon, and Harvey is now.

2-pronged Sally dogpile now, 3-pronged Eastern dogpile with Hall next fall, and next offseason could even get legitimately interesting.

Good article here on Rutschman’s big night, including numerous quotes from Aberdeen’s hitting coach, Thomas Eller.   Also a video of his triple.  https://www.milb.com/milb/news/adley-rutschman-collects-five-hits-for-aberdeen-ironbirds/c-310128142

Would have been hilarious if Eller had been all "Yea, when Adley got here his swing was a mess, honestly I was shocked at how bad it was.  But a few sessions with me straightened him right out."

The mono thing was reported by Roch back on July 11.    I think it explains a lot.    In any event, he seems to be back at full strength now.

I had mono late - around 27 - and it absolutely knocked me out.  I was a workout/gym rat at the time - lifting three days week, basketball three days a week plus other.  There were days with mono that I fell asleep on carpeted floor trying to get from my bedroom to the kitchen and just couldn't get there.

I have no idea how a professional athlete could consider competing at all with mono or even towards the end of recovery from mono.  To say the mono "explains a lot" is an enormous understatement.

AR is the most accomplished hitter to come out of college in some time IMO.  It would be shocking if AR does not put up results along the lines of, or better than, Bart and Bohm - and those guys are pretty much sailing through the minors.

The mono is obviously a factor, but a don’t want to underestimate how much you can do right and still have poor results over a short period of time. If you watch his ABs/swings from when the results weren’t there, they looked great, like best player in the league great, even when the OPS was .580.

Right, and I don't think anyone was arguing at any time that Rutschman was not going to hit, but it was apparent that something was causing him to struggle against lower end competition in both the GCL and NY-Penn League and even if it wasn't the affects of mono, it may be from the time off because of it.

Looked to me like he basically was in spring training mode when everyone else was in full season mode. Now he's caught back up. I didn't see see anyone doubt the talent or say that the swing wasn't there.

What do you make of Eller’s comments that earlier the swing was basically perfect but the timing was just a bit off?    Is that consistent with your observations?

Yeah I wasn’t trying to call anyone out, just thought it was a good example of how small samples can be extremely deceiving as to the true talent of a player.

Yeah, the timing wasn’t even off much, if he was missing the barrel, it’s was by a small amount. He just missed like 6-8 HRs that turned into flyball outs on the track, that could have been some mono related weakness too, it’s hard to determine how much was not getting all of it and how much was not being as strong physically.

Excited for this.  I think it was sort of in last year's CWS he kind of established himself as a Bleeping A 1-1 for this year's draft, and this year's CWS ran badly for Oregon State.  There's still summer left to play for Baseball Championships, something we all hope he will be doing a lot of.  I can see between the OSU upset loss and the mono his game still having some competitive edge to it in the final few weeks.

If he's Michael Jordan-esque, Andrew Vaughn already being in High-A would be seen as a deep personal insult.
