Trumbo predictions?

I’m guessing Trumbo elects to retire.    
I don’t think Trumbo got an “appreciation thread,” so I’ll just echo LA2’s sentiments here.    Trumbo was really fun to watch in 2016 and was a key component to that team.    He was a good mentor to Mancini and other younger players.    His extension turned out to be a mistake, but I still appreciate him as a classy guy and good teammate.    I wish him well.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if we brought him back on a ST invite, although maybe not on a Tilly-type deal, just to see if by chance there’s anything at all left in the tank. If there is, I’d rather he expend it with us than somewhere else. To say nothing of the professionalism and veteran intangibles he brings to the table, always key for a young, developing club.

The extra roster slot could make this at least a tad more feasible. But I'm guessing we'll move on.

Yes too bad he couldn't mentor CD back to being a good hitter again.  Trumbo still had a dangerous bat and barreled up many still.  CD - not so much.  (Edit: @Tony-OH will statcast me to death here but whatevs )

We are so clogged up at 1B/COF/DH that there’s no way Trumbo makes any sense for us, even if he was able to stay healthy and play reasonably well by his standards.

Not really. But yeah nah, ST invite/minor league deal if he's lucky, but not with the O's.

Zero chance of that.  Zero.  Mountcastle, Santander, Nunez, Mancini... take one PA from any of them and give it to Trumbo and you're being counterproductive.

It made no sense to sign him to his last deal.  Now that's just crazy.

Actually, one of Trumbo's strengths was that there was almost zero need to platoon him. He had career OPSs of .754 vs. RHP / .779 vs. LHP and I believe he had a reverse-split season or two.

If we're talking regular season, I'll go with no.  I think he'll get a minor league deal and an invite to ST from someone, but when it becomes apparent that he won't be able to hold up physically, he'll be cut.
