You need to see him playing alongside Smith and Stewart to get the full effect.

He covered a ton of ground and that was a tough play.

Santander isn't good defensively, and he doesn't get on base. 

We honestly only have a few guys that would crack MLB rosters on an average team. Alberto, Means, Cobb if he is healthy, maybe Givens/Castro, and Iglesias. Nunez is a DH on a bad team. Ruiz is a lottery ticket, and Hays has potential at least. Can't think of much more. We don't have any legit candidates for an All-Star selection other than maybe Alberto if he continues his tear. 

I just hate losing games like this.

I think Santander is pretty solid defensively.

O's 8-25 vs. Marlins since that team's inception. Thought that was a bit surprising, but then I thought about how the Marlins have won two World Series in that time-span and O's have won none. 

Personal note: The first foul ball I ever caught at The Yard was vs. Marlins on 7-16-2000. Was a foul tip. I had just sat down in my seat in the first inning and told my friends, "I got you covered, I have my glove." The a foul tip from a Marlin batter went right into my glove. I was in the Club Section just to the first base side of the press box, first row. Same batter hit another just out of my reach.

Friend of mine sitting next to me caught a foul ball in that exact same section (1st club section on 1st base side).  John Valentin of the Red Sox I believe.  Think that's the only time I ever say in that section.

Ball came *really* fast. Got it by pure reflex. I still had some decent reflexes then as it was my last year of over 30's league baseball. We were still playing.

I got another the next year on the other side of the field, sort of just under the club seats. A foul ball hit a seat a few rows in front of me and skipped like a rock on a pond and then into my chest. I trapped it. Had a beer in the other hand!

      Most of these kids are still 17 or 18, and the ones who have made it to full season ball have only been there for a couple of months.  A bit early for them to have 'completely tanked', no?

      A. I didn't quote you, or anyone else, in my reply B. What are you talking about?  I'm agreeing with you (and the post from SG that preceded my original post) that Hernandez is a flame out, that he won't be the last, and that its not a big deal because we're at least in the market.   I don't get what the issue is or what I didn't 'get' from the thread.

      It’s, without question, that there will be more teams willing to trade in the offseason than the teams this year.  In the offseason, every team is on the table to trade. That’s not the case now. What history tells you is that pitching fetches more at the deadline…but a team like Seattle, for example, isn’t trading one of their starters for offense right now but they could deal one in the offseason, when they could replace them.

      The O's have a bunch of players that potential need to be protected this off season.   Since there are not a lot of trades after the season before November 20th when the rosters are set for the Rule 5 draft, the time to think about trading players that don't make the 40 man roster in November is at the trade deadline. Here is the November 40 man roster as I see it right now. 1.  GRod 2. Irvin 3. Suarez 4.Kremer 5. Povich 6.McDermott 7. S. Johnson 8. Bradish 9. Wells - IL next season 10. Bautista 11. Kimbrel 12. Cano 13. Coulombe 14.  Perez 15. Akin 16. Tate 17.  Webb 18. Baker 19. Adley 20.  McCann  - Signed to a one year extension 21.  Hunt 22.  Mountcastle 23.  Holliday 24.  Gunnar 25.  Westburg 26.  Mayo 27.  Urias 28. Mateo 29. O' Hearn 30. Trading Hays and Mullins in December or January opens space for established pitchers on the winter.   If they want to open at bats for Mayo, O'Hearn may be traded this off season. Who do you see the O's protecting and how does that impact who  the O's trade at the deadline?
