So he still hasn't had the surgery?

How long can he wait before he misses opening day?

Have they come to the conclusion that the reward is not worth the risk?

Seems odd that it was sounding like a given on Dec 5th and it still hasn't happened.

I heard 8-12 weeks so if he waits to January he will could miss the first couple weeks of the season.

Maybe he didn't want to be layed up during Christmas? Can't blame the guy

That is the impression that I got listening to one of his interviews plus he hadn't totally said that he was going to have the surgery yet so I'm sure there was going to be another doctors visit before they made that determination

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/15/nick-markakis-to-undergo-neck-surgery-wednesday/

When the Braves signed Nick Markakis to a four-year, $44 million contract they knew the veteran outfielder might need surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck and sure enough he’s now scheduled to go under the knife Wednesday.

Markakis’ “fusion surgery” carries with it an expected eight-week recovery timetable, which doesn’t leave a ton of extra time before the start of spring training.
