Markakis played his first game in the field today -- and threw a runner out at home plate.

I promise, I'm not going to document every game he plays this spring. But his first game this spring, and now his first game in the field, seemed notable enough to mention. I probably won't post here again until the Braves determine whether Markakis will be on the roster for Opening Day -- which seems pretty likely at this point.

I saw yesterday's third at bat this morning. He looks fine at the plate but I can't say he exactly squared up the pitch. It was a little bloop but it counts.

On a side note the Astros' defense is going to put a lot of pressure on the pitching staff.

I think the doctor fixed him. Was it the Atlanta team surgeon that did the work?

That is funny. Maybe reporters aren't on his favorite list these days.
Markakis left the game, showered, and left the ballpark soon after, apparently having forgotten that reporters planned to speak with him.

Then again, he surely had plenty else on his mind after finally getting to play, following a serious surgical procedure, rehab, and a rush to get into condition (he was only cleared to begin running at the beginning of spring training).

He is misunderstood.

2/16 overall this spring. Will be mildly interesting to see how much Nick we see during those 3 consecutive games against the Braves we get to end Spring Training. Wonder why they do that.........maybe teams don't want to face division opponents?
