Few things here:

1). Any way you can push a certain narrative is going to be pushed nowadays, so I agree.

2) Trout is boring and Tatis (amongst others) is not.

So yes, I think you are right.  The problem I have with you being right is that MLB should be plastering Trout everywhere.

To me, Trout is a blank check player.  I am not sure if I can say that about anyone else in sports.  Zion is perhaps becoming that because of how personable he is.  He is just a good kid.  How many other big name superstars are like that?  Maybe Brady but he is at the end.  
 

But Trout is everything you would want out of your “employee”.  He doesn’t complain in public, he keeps his mouth shut about social issues and politics, he is already a HOFer and one of the greatest ever, he shows up everyday, hustles, etc...you can’t say anything bad about the guy, at least to our knowledge publicly.

His contract will probably look bad in 4 or 5 years but it’s a “so what” situation.  Just the rare athlete nowadays that is as close to perfect as you can be.  
 

If you can’t market that, you have no idea what you are doing.

Non contact injury last night too, I don't see how Tatis avoids a lengthy injury list trip. I think at some point he's going to need surgery on that left shoulder.

Yea, there's an agenda: to try to appeal to people who didn't serve in the Korean war.

Playing on a playoff team would help promote Trout. Its looks like Tatis is going to surpass Trout as the face of MLB, if he stays healthy anyway. Nothing against Trout, who may or may not want to be marketed. Baseball should want to appeal to inner city youth, so im fine with Tatis being the face of the game.

It’s not?   From 2016-20, Mookie Betts has 37.5 rWAR to Trout’s 36.8.    Trout has the edge in fWAR,  37.1 to 33.6.    Either way, I’d call that close.

Tatis just left the game in the first inning with some sort of a injury.  Weird play. Trying to take 3rd on am error he slid into 3rd, legs first, somewhat awkwardly, and somehow managed to hurt his arm/wrist.  Walked off the field with trainer supporting his arm.

Hard to explain the play, still don't quite understand how he got hurt, go looking for the hightlght ..

It's his left shoulder that got injured earlier this year and many were speculating at that time Tatis would eventually need surgery to fix it.

Hoping it doesn't come to that, but between the trade deadline and this it's shaping up to be an ugly week for the Padres.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the Padres are playing him in RF. He’s not good there. 

He played a catchable ball into a double....went back, turned around looking for a carom and it hit the base off the wall scoring a run.

Padres might be thinking it will keep him from re-injuring his left shoulder playing the outfield.
