Seriously, the O's need to copy the Rays and start extending players pre-arbitration.  The O's can't afford to extend players (who are good enough to extend) their last year before free agency.

 

He's proven nothing yet. Lets see him pitch like a #2 first. Mean's Free Agent offers when he turns 31 wont likely be that good anyway.

That’s the first thing I thought of reading this thread. 

And if Means does become a legit #2 starter I hope the Orioles keep him, but I think Elias might deal Means for a good offer. The list of untouchable players in this organization is very short.

Charlie Morton got 2/$30MM at 35 y.o. I don't think any of us can predict what Means will or will not get in Free Agency five season from now. Good pitching will bring goods offers.

Yeah,)  Roch Kubatko )pointed out that this was his 2nd consecutive outing of 4 IP and 1 ER after a rocky first 2 starts previously ...... I didn't see either of those 2 most recent starts, but they at least look good on paper.

IMO  this was not a good outing for Means.  In  2 innings he threw a total of 58 pitches, the 1st and the 3rd.  So he could not even get through 4 innings.  Hope he shapes up for the Season Opener.
