Yeah it was early in the game. But the way this team is scuffling lately... I dunno. With guys on 2nd and 3rd, they are likely bringing the infield in and putting pressure on Civale.

Interesting. I like this idea. We still have Kjerstad/Urias on the bench if you want to PH for Mateo later. It's possible a higher leverage spot for a runner comes up later but at worst you've taken a base early and cost yourself one late. Of course, Adley put the first pitch in play but maybe sending Mateo there breaks up the double play at least?

What happened to Kjerstad was perfectly predictable and he should not have been put in that situation. The job of management is to put your young talent in the best possible positions to succeed... And this was not it.

The Rays bullpen threw four perfect innings with 7 Ks. The fact that Kjerstad actually worked the count to 2-2 makes his AB one of the better ones.

Also, people will say things like "Heston isn't used to facing pitchers like Stephenson, no guys like that in AAA!" but Robert Stephenson totally pitched in AAA this year.

I would've let Westberg hit and PH Kjerstad for Frazier. I don't mind giving Kjerstad pressure ABs, just replace the right people.

Left in Lopez way too long.   He's sometimes good for 1 inning,  but rarely for two.

I’m away from home and have only followed the game online. Why did Kremer get pulled after 5 innings of 2 hit ball when he was only at 86 pitches? Not criticizing - just curious.

Both teams were treating this like a playoff game and went to the bullpens early.   Unfortunately Hyde decided to stick with Lopez a few too many at bats.

Hyde wasn't. If he was, Lopez is not in the game.

He certainly wouldn't have been my choice to bring in.   But whether he should have been in or not he was left in too long.

Good point.   Just meant pulling the starters early even when they aren't really in trouble or pitching poorly yet.

One batter was too long. But yes, I agree Hyde made a blunder and then compounded it by leaving him in. You play Russian Roulette long enough and you're odds of popping yourself approach 100%.

Hyde no longer has to live like a Refugee.  Everybody has to fight not to live like a refugee.

Somewhere somehow someone has kicked him around some...  He's free and he doesn't have to live like a refugee.
