I am no one to be questioning the reasoning,, but I just feel like when someone is on a roll like this, consistent routine and rhythm is a key to continued success.   I agree with your sentiment and don’t like this decision one bit......unless....something isn’t quite right physically for Means and they just are not saying that.

I would honestly like to see the evidence to support the decision.

I think they are guessing.  If they aren't I'd be interested in what data they have collected.

You can be sure they aren't "guessing."

What's your innings target for Means this season?

Not Corn, or ANY kind of expert... I'd think 175 would be into bonus territory.

If they are already cutting back I don't think he is even allowed to throw that many (Assuming he isn't traded)

Ohh I get it, they want to make sure he is rested for the playoffs.

This where the conversation needs to be.  How many innings is the target for Means and how is the best way to get there?

He's thrown 33% of his career high, in under 25% of the season.

If you just ride him this year, your could get up to 210 innings.

Is that what you want?

I speculated with the extra rest last time and then found out he was on a pitch limit, it makes me question what they are doing. My speculation is they are babying him as much as possible leading to trading to the deadline but from a gm prospective,  it makes you wonder if his arm/shoulder might be a bit dead after the no hitter. I will tell you the no hitter he threw, those curveballs were the nastiest he has ever throw and this past game he was effectively not nasty.
