Saturday afternoon August 14: Chris Sale makes his first start of the season

I watch this game and think, with a 4-0 score and Sale pitching and no Mountcastle or Mullins, the chances of the Orioles winning this game are very, very small. Do the players feel that way when a game's like this.

I just can't believe that the constant losing, and especially the numerous clobberings, doesn't undermine the enthusiasm and confidence of Oriole players. Some of those players are expected to be part of a winning team in a few (two? three? six?) years. I wonder whether being part of last-place team after last-place-team -- with an owner, a GM and a manager who seem to think that's perfectly OK -- will have a lasting effect on some of them.

A silver lining might be that we send Plutko out to eat 4 or 5 innings, and maybe tomorrow with Akin going, we DFA Plutko to bring up a fresh arm.   This could be the impetus to close the book on the Plutko era.

Hasn’t Akin been just as terrible as Plutko though?

Wow, man. How embarrassing

You would be embarrassed. I would be embarrassed. But I don't think CEO Angelos, GM Elias, or manager Hyde is embarrassed or troubled or concerned or appalled by a game like this. Just another day at the office, and they're all well paid to accept the crap show they're providing us.

Hyde might be.  Elias isn't.  Who knows if the Brothers Angelos are even paying attention.

The body language from Hyde over the year would say otherwise.
