I was frustrated at Grayson's placement / lack of promotions last year, for this very reason.

But at this point that's water under the bridge and he hasn't pitched at AAA at all.  O's have been consistent that they want all players getting some time at AAA.  Probably even more so the pitchers with the difference in the ball.  I have no problem with him starting at AAA.  Wish he would have started in AA last year and spent the second half in AAA though.

The question is what else they could have done.

Let Grayson get his ~130 innings in the majors is something else they could have done.

I sure hope they don't get caught up in a one size fits all mentality when it comes to how they treat prospects.  That seems shortsighted.

He seems like a worthy grab. 40% c/s, good defensively, greeting framing…what’s not to like?

Twins signed Sisco to a minor league deal and designated this guy for sssignment?

The fact that the Twins preferred Sisco.

Grayson.

He wasn't going to skip AAA and he got rocked in his spring training appearance this year. Hopefully he is up sooner rather than later but he has only made 23 starts above low-A ball.

I also want to see him get used to pitching every 5th day. He pitched on 5+ days rest in all but one start last year.

Not to advocate for anything, but the scuttlebutt from Twins' fans was that Sisco was picked up only as insurance in case this guy doesn't make it through waivers.

If Grayson looks good he could be up in early May. I have no problem with him starting the year in AAA.

It would appear so but Akin has also been terrible. Not sure how they decide who is more terrible.

Probably has something to do with this being Akin's last chance, whereas Lowther is one year behind Akin and therefore has a longer opportunity to sink or swim.

Oh I forgot he "got rocked" in his ONE spring training appearance.

Never mind, he obviously isn't ready.

No one that has ever given up runs in their first spring training appearance has ever done anything without a stint in AAA.

Snark will be the name of my side band.  Now I just need to get into a band.  Know one that needs a kazoo player?

If only Elias and his team had as much knowledge as you do on when prospects are ready.

You think that Elias isn't factoring in service time and potential competitive window in his promotion schedule?  You think he's just going by the "when he's ready" metric?

Zappa's dead and he's the only one I recall that used a lot of Kazoo.  Weird Al maybe?  But he tends to keep the same backing band.

How about Dweezil's cover band?

I’m sure Elias considers all of that.

    • Before the season, I was one in trade Mateo camp . He only played SS , but with Gunnar locking up SS , I was not sure about his value anymore. But when he started playing at Second and CF , he looked like he picking up at these positions.  I think maybe he should be their utility player now.
    • I  regret to hear news on Wells and Means setbacks.  I like Means because Orioles drafted and developed him .  He will be free agent this fall , should Orioles tender him or let him walk ? As for Wells, he has the stuff but durability is his drawback . Every season Orioles slotted him in starting rotation, then he gets put on IL this season, 2023 and 2022 seasons also .  When Wells returns next season  , they should slot him in bullpen permanently  , JMO
    • Yes and at one point was a higher rated prospect in their system than Aaron Judge. It took awhile with the bat but he was always an amazing athlete with the ability for defensive wizardry.
    • Does anybody know that he is an ex Yankee?
    • I put this ridiculousness in the game recap, but I think it belongs here as well.  Using AI you can really make some crazy stuff. 😂 https://suno.com/song/8f21dd9e-af4e-4284-9f23-c566260ca6ce
    • A buddy of mine made this with his AI. I figured I’d just put this here. 😂   https://suno.com/song/8f21dd9e-af4e-4284-9f23-c566260ca6ce
    • I was listening to MLB Prospects podcast last week. They talked about Gillen, and mentioned a lot about how he may be the best high school hitter. However, it’s a tough call where he’ll go because of a weak arm. They said the arm was injured, a right labrum, and his arm strength is not back after two years. So, probably wasn’t going to be a SS anyway when said and done due to size, maybe a 2B/LF or CF profile due to the weak arm and 60 speed. He was projected to maybe become the top high school player in the draft as a sophomore, but injured the shoulder and had some other injuries that have held him back. It is going to be interesting to see where Elias goes with picks 22 and 32. I would like to see Gillen there, but I think he’ll be gone. Kellon Lindsey is interesting, and maybe Billy Amick, along with one of the previous college hitters you mentioned will sneak through. Lindsey is rising fast.
