Revenge of the Sith:wedge:

Were now onto Part IV "A New Hope"

Coincidence I think not!

I finally bit the bullet and paid for Plus membership so I could make this comment:

Episode IV: A New Oriole

In other news, I wanted to get in on the historic thread, and I'm looking forward to posting again, even though my starving-college-student finances can't really justify paying for anything that isn't food.

Man the Hangout must be getting a ton of traffic. On the Roy stuff, I think we've pretty much proved on here through eyewitness accounts that the rumor was fairly accurate...

Anita Marks was bashing him earlier. She misquoted him saying that Roy suggested that he would be announced at the Ravens game.

Everything that Roy said (minus maybe the physical Monday) could very well have been true. He could very easily have been a guest of Angelos' without Angelos ever being there.

I've visited this board from time to time over the past few years, usually around the trading deadline and appreciate the passion you guys have for your team. I've been watching baseball for a long time and have always had respect for the Orioles franchise.

It looks like the Teixeira situation is drawing to a close and I read, with interest, the comments about the mutual attraction between the O's and Teixeira. I have felt, all along, that the Red Sox were going to sign Tex because he was the one piece they feel they are lacking to keep the offense performing at a top level. They have the resources and the need. Usually that means they close the deal.

I don't believe the Yankees are serious in their interest here. They are trying to drive the price up for the Red Sox. I don't see how the Nationals stand a chance because the Orioles presence negate any conceivable advantage (location?) that Washington might enjoy. The Angels seemed to be in the process of conditioning their fan base for the bad news that Tex is moving on. Their sudden fondness for Manny Ramirez seems to substantiate this.

I honestly believe that it's down to the Sox and O's. While it's pretty clear that the Red Sox have a much better chance of contending for a World Series Championship beginning this season, it doesn't appear that this is necessarily Tex's most important criteria for making the decision.

Again, I still feel confident that Tex will be wearing a Sox uniform this season, if that isn't to be, I truly hope he signs with the O's. You guys have stayed loyal while the organization gave you little in return for your support. As much as I'd hate Tex to play for another AL East team, I will definitely be happy for all of you.

Stop it, I really don't want to like any Red Sox fans. :mwahaha:

Just when I think it is safe to hate all Sox fans some of the good ones pop back up. :D

The fact that the media outlets ran with something posted on a message board just because it was a journalist posting even though he specifically stated it was something he "heard" and didn't put it out there as fact, was bad enough, but then to bash him as being wrong, that's indefensible...

The worst part is, if I were Roy, I'd think twice next time before I posted some news that I had just heard and couldn't confirm.

    • He's a guy that probably needs to be challenged in AA now. I watched some of his outing last night and he gest a lot of chase on the fastball up in the zone. He reminds me of Albert Suarez a bit with the riding fastball, slider, changeup mix.  He did walk 3 last night, but he really got squeezed from an inconsistent A-ball umpire at times.
    • I know Hyde won manager of the year and he obviously must be great in things we can't see, but his in game managing still sucks. When fans on this site can call out a bad decision in real time (not in hindsight) and it does not work out, there is something wrong. Unless Grayson was hurting, I was letting him start the seventh. We're going to a 6 man rotation; he will get an extra day of rest. How the heck you do not pinch hit for Mullins? Indefensible. Just admit it, right now he is only there for his defense.
    • Some of the advanced stats don’t like Baumann much. Again, I have felt that he will pop for a season or 2 and have good numbers but I do agree he’s a dime a dozen type guy. I just think it limits our options on who we can go to.  If Baker was pitching better I would feel a lot better about the decision. I do agree that I don’t think he gets claimed.
    • Only hit allowed was a weak swinging bunt that got past O'Hearn (I wonder if Mounty gets it?). Excellent outing. If he can carry that stuff into the playoffs we will be tough to beat.
    • Major League Baseball (MLB) no longer has revocable waivers after 2019, and the waiver order is based on record. Before 2019, players could be traded after the trade deadline if they first cleared revocable trade waivers. Revocable waivers allow a team to bring back a player if another team claims them. In other cases, the team cannot withdraw the player, and if claimed, the team will lose the player. These are called "irrevocable waivers".
    • Yes they can.   Interestingly, Statcast stats are inadmissible.
    • Yeah, the pen is shaky and offense is really down in general. Look at what Hays, Mullins and Santander are doing this year compared to last year. Thankfully, the young guys are doing their best to pick up the slack.
