How close are Grayson and Bradish to a call up?

IMO if Bradish has a good game at AAA on April 27th, he should start  for the O's on May 2nd or 3rd.   There is nothing left for him to do after this Wednesday at AAA.

Grayson is a little different.  His first 3 starts and the one he should pitch on Tuesday for Norfolk are all on 5 days rest.   In order to be ready for the majors he probably has to adjust his routine to 4 days rest.   As conservative has Elias seem to be he may want to see that adjustment made at AAA before he is promoted.

Just my guess.

Bradish seems like he'll get Ellis' next turn in the rotation. There's an outside shot the O's could select someone like Wells or Lowther, but that would be rather ridiculous, especially since Lowther has an 11 ERA at Norfolk. Instead, I see Wells coming up as a fresh bullpen arm until Bradish is recalled.

Grayson, they've been increasing his pitch count like 8 pitches or so each start, he's at about 75 now. I expect at least 3 more starts down there.

My guess is that Ellis goes on the IL.   Alex Wells is called up and gets 1 or 2 innings in relief on Tuesday or  Wednesday and then gets the start on Saturday.

My guess is that Bradish starts in AAA on Wednesday.   Then is called up for the start on  Monday or Tuesday with the O's.

It will be interesting to see what they do. If Ellis goes on the DL, I think they bring up a reliever, probably Wells, in the short term. Ellis' next scheduled start is Saturday. If they want Bradish to take that turn, I could see him only throwing a couple innings on Wednesday. Or they could keep Bradish on a regular schedule, have him make the Triple-A start Wednesday, and then come into the Orioles rotation next Monday/Tuesday. But that would mean needing to cover Saturdays start

I think Bradish gets called up first because (1) he’s on the 40 man roster already so nobody needs to get bumped, and (2) he’s achieved a higher top pitch count (86) than Rodriguez (75).   Either could get called up at any time IMO.   I’d prefer to see one of them take Ellis’ next turn, but I agree Alex Wells also is a possibility.

Would be funny to see Elias surprise us with Grayson. I don't think it's likely, but I could also see it happening, weirdly.

Looks like most of us are in agreement that Bradish will either make the Wednesday or Saturday start. Saturday seems most likely.

He can't hold out forever...

I'm sure he would have preferred to not have to do it through attrition but here we are. I'm sure there's still some sort of voodoo he can manufacture to give Bradish a few more AAA starts but it's pretty clear that he's ready and a better or equal option than the entirety of the ML rotation.

Being better than who the O's have in the rotation has never been the measure.   Its about when Elias feels he has dominated AAA and has nothing more to learn there.

Zimmermann, Harvey, Lyles, Bradish, and GRod is a fun rotation. I'm hoping Bradish's next start is in Baltimore, and GRod around Memorial Day.

I would rather replace Harvey with some random guy.  Not a fan of his for many reasons, the main one being contributing to another player's death.  Can't believe he's not suspended.

Not a fan of Harvey but it is an enormous stretch to say he contributed to another player's death.
