2022 9th Round Pick (#257 Overall) Adam Crampton SS - Stanford

Crampton is a glove-first prospect who handles shortstop at a high level and has done so for three seasons at Stanford. He had a modest year offensively in 2021, then went to the Northwoods League and hit .319/.400/.395 with 10 walks and 11 strikeouts during the summer. This spring, Crampton put together his best offensive season with the program, slashing .316/.395/.392 with 23 walks and 31 strikeouts. Listed at 6-foot-1, 183 pounds, Crampton has limited power with modest exit velocities and just three career home runs, but he makes plenty of contact, doesn’t strike out too much (14.7% career strikeout rate) and is a savvy runner on the bases (15-for-18 career SBs). Whether or not there’s more in the tank offensively is a legitimate question, but Crampton’s defensive ability will get him drafted. He has the tools and skill to stick at shortstop and finished with a .980 fielding percentage this spring—the best mark of his career.
