Is Ryan Mountcastle good at defense?

I can't believe I'm actually typing this, and this might just highlight the problem with defensive metrics, BUT:

Definitely not impossible, and don’t think it should be shocking. He largely had to move off of the left side of IF due to arm action, not athleticism. That he can play a good 1B isn’t crazy to me. 
 

Side note: the updated site is nearly unusable on mobile. Way too many pop ups launched when doing normal activities (like opening threads and replying to posts).

He's gotten better this year as the season has progressed.  I have a hard time believing he's the second best 1b in MLB.  In fact, I don't believe it.  At all.
