Ok, just getting caught up on this thanks to being in meetings this morning.
My take: Povich is the headliner and although I have not gone and watched him yet (I'll do that tonight) all reports is that he's adding velocity and becoming a guy. A three pitch lefty with a good change can be an effective 4th/5th starter and if his velocity continues to tick up or the Orioles are able to get more out of his change, we have ourselves a future rotation piece.
Cano is a Cuban so he's a little
Thank you for your advocacy for Jackson on CF position. My reasons almost same as yours . Having said that , Jackson should also work on 2B . There’s too many players and limited positions , ABs have to be rationed as well. The upcoming deadline will likely reveal who’s staying and who’s leaving. In the meantime , they should let Jackson heal any injuries and refine his positional skills
I think the whole Bautista / Omar thing is more about inspiring a feeling, the ominous feeling you get when Omar is about to do his thing juxtaposed to Felix coming out of the pen to dominate the opposition.
I think the metaphor breaks down when you take it too literally and start interpreting it the way you do and stretch it that much. Felix when he is on is a dominant closer. But he is not actually going to kill anybody.
They played Hell's Bells when Trevor Hoffman came out of the pen, but [as far as I know] they didn't actually perform any ritual Satanic sacrifices or draw pentagrams in blood.
It's a tough question because Irvin's recent performance has been horrible, so he is the starter most deserving of losing his spot.
But Suarez, IMO, could be a really effective reliever, moreso than Irvin, and i would love to see him get the opportunity to prove that.
There's an argument to be made either way.
Looking at Kremer's rehab starts results haven't exactly filled me with a sense of relief that he will be starting O's games again soon. Any eye witnesses to make me think otherwise?
I always felt that if they are going to recall The Wire and Omar's whistle, why don't they hire some folks to drop black plastic trash bags out of the warehouse windows like the people Omar was about to rob did? They just surrendered their stash without a fight because they knew "Omar don't play."
A lot of players who are not available now will be available closer to the deadline when the calculus about their team's postseason chances has changed enough. That will be true regardless of whether or not Holliday is on the table.
