I get it but....if I had just spent the entirety of the last two seasons in the majors and I got sent down....I think I'd be doing my best to stay locked in. I'd also be worried about all the 0's the staff is putting up in my absence.

It definitely not best sign but we don’t know if they had him working on something once they got a big lead.  He gave up 5 runs and 7 of those hits innings 5 and 6.  Your team getting lot of runs not a bad thing but 17 runs in 4 innings and 5 pitchers has to be hard on a pitcher to stay lose especially since Irvin works fast so I assume sitting would bother him a lot.

Wonder if he is hiding an injury.  He just looks awful

Didn't think about that, could be. He came in with the track record of a command guy. What we've seen so far a the ML level is the opposite of that. Hope he rights the ship and is ready when his number is called. Depth, especially with pitching, it be important.

Irvin was a tough luck loser tonight, as the Durham staff somehow managed to scatter 13 base runners and yield only one unearned run — but he had a very promising outing. He went 7 innings with 4 Ks and 0 BBs, and he allowed only 4 hits on the night (though one was a homer).

This comes on the heels of his previous strong start against Charlotte. Combined in those two starts, he’s allowed only 3 ERs in 13 IP (2.08 ERA) with 9 Ks against only 1 BB. He’s given up a HR in each outing, but he is finally starting to look a lot more like the good command/control pitcher they thought they had traded for.

That's good to see. We're gonna need him at some point.

He looked great Tonight.  First 4ip went by really fast.

They could clear a 40 man spot and drop him.

Yep..there are a few easy moves and that’s one of them.

I don’t mind keeping his arm in the system and you never know if he learns a new pitch or something like that but this iteration of him isn’t someone we need to protect.
