I don't find today depressing (win or lose), but games like this shouldn't be too surprising. This is a team that has lots of offensive talent, with prospects in the minor leagues who are blocked for now, and no starters with a record of consistent success in the major leagues. Yet it has chosen not to draft, trade for or sign a top-line starting pitcher. When you build a team that way, you're going to give up a lot of runs, and when you face really good pitching it's going to be hard to win games.

What was the old Oriole way?  Pitching and defense?  Now it's hitting and prayer, as in pray our pitchers get lucky.
