Pirates Series

Pirates are 1-9 over their last 10.  Maybe we're catching them at the exactly right time. 

A week ago I thought this could be a really tough series, now I think they're quickly regressing to their mean and we can come in after a great series win against Tampa and take 2/3.

Friday:  Oviedo (5.59 ERA) vs. Bradish

Saturday:  Contreras (4.74 ERA) vs. Wells

Sunday:  Keller (2.72) vs. Gibson

Until today, when they put a whopping 3 runs on the board, they had gone 9 consecutive games scoring 2 or fewer runs.

Oviedo got off to a very good start for them but he has been crushed in his last two starts.

I'll be there Friday and Saturday.   A couple years ago a buddy of mine who lives in North Carolina but is from Pittsburgh and a big Pirates fan, rented a luxury box for a couple games and invited a whole bunch of us up to PNC.   I'm sort of returning the favor, though I didn't go as far as a luxury box.   I got 6 really good seats (club seats Friday, lower box Saturday).   I'm renting an SUV big enough to fit 6, and have 5 friends coming in from NC, Fla, VA and some local, and we are hitting a bunch of breweries and restaurants each afternoon before the game.   They wanted some iconic Baltimore food experiences so we have Chap's Pit Beef and Faidley's at Lexington Market for some crab cakes on the itinerary.

Anyway, I've been looking forward to this weekend for months and it's finally here and we are playing well.   Can't wait.   Disappointed we won't get to see O'Neil Cruz, though.

It could be bit of a let down series.  I think it usually tough for young teams coming off a big series win to be sharp next series as you have to learn to not get to high or to low.  2-1 would be huge success imo, luckily a day off might help us calm down by Friday.

The right time would be in the middle of a 1-9 stretch. Would guarantee a series win.

Could be a trap series. Pirates were really good early. I could see us sweeping but I could also see us losing the series. Still need to bring the A game to win, especially pitchers. Need Bradish to get us off to a good start.

Nope, we took a 2-0 lead in 71, dropped the next three, won game 6, before losing game 7.  We blew a 3-1 lead in 79.  I can't stand hearing We Are Family to this day.

I’m not worried about a let down/trap series because we will have a big weekend crowd. Our young squad will feed off that. Plus, we just faced a lot of top notch pitching, are hitters are ready to break out against some lesser pitchers.
