I'm talking about bunting for a hit, not to sacrifice. How is being able to bunt a couple of times a week, putting a potential base stealer on, not a valuable skill when you need a run?

Because the success rate won't be as high as you think it would be.

The all time leader, to include dead ball era, had 190 bunt singles, he was successful about half the time.

How much value is there in exchanging a regular at bat for a 50/50 chance at a single?  (assuming you could maintain that success rate)

.500 OBP would be extremely valuable

If you get around a 60 WAR, you start getting into HOF conversation. FG has Votto at 58 and BR has him at 64.

So, he’s in the ballpark, which means there is a discussion.

Hes also a good dude and the media has loved him and while that shouldn’t matter, it does. He will get extra points for that.
