He wasn't good -- he gave up 8 hits, 5 runs, a homer and a walk, and 3 strikeouts over 3.1 innings. BUT, just look at how poorly the other pitchers we sent tonight performed. In context, maybe it was just that the Sux were hitting really well.

Perez: 1 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 strikeout (lousy)

Fuji: 1.2 IP, 1 strikeout (the best pitching performance from either team in this game tbh)

Webb: 0.2 IP, 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 strikeout (putrid)

Coulombe: 0.2 IP, 3 hits (bad)

Lopez: 0.2 IP, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts (bad)

Cano: 1 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk (terrible)

We're just lucky that more of those hits weren't doubles and home runs, or strung together in the same inning, or this game would have looked more like 20-13 Sux.

Yeah, but we would have at least 115 wins by now if he'd only learn not to use up all those pitchers in the bullpen.

Other than Fuji, all the pitching was bad... and that's on both sides.  I think because the BoSux have had a marginal year, many forget how good a hitting team they are.  Especially when they're on, as they clearly were last night with an historic 23 hit 12 run performance. 

What's amazing to me is how our pitchers kept the ball in the park.  Maybe it wasn't ALL them, but they certainly deserve some credit.  The fielders, after a shaky start, rallied to tighten themselves up keeping hitters to singles and the occasional true double not allowing many advances on fly outs.  All of that was important for this W.

I thought it was interesting that the 3B coach decided not to test Hays on the Red Sox’s final hit.   Could’ve been the game-tying run, but the coach had too much respect for Hays’ arm.  The runner looked like he had a decent chance rounding 3B.

Looked to me like he would have been out by a couple of steps.  The throw was right online.  Only issue would have been if would hit runner.

Why isn't the Hangout shut down and we just agree with everything that's done.  Running thru the entire bullpen in one game is a repeated problem for this team.
