Therefore he was "past second base" and was required to re-touch it on the way back to first, which he didn't. Kevin Brown is spot on, it is very reminiscent of that play last year when Trey Mancini was ruled to have "taken a turn" towards 2nd on the basis of a slight body turn and maybe an inch or two of leftward motion, so he was called out when they tagged him walking back to first. Would have to assume that’s the case. It just makes no sense. He gets up standing on the base and can obviously see that the ball was caught. He’s a professional ball player. There’s no way his intent was to go to third and not back to first. It’s a ridiculous call made even more ridiculous by confirming the call on replay. 1
Billy F-Face3
The discomfort Dean is feeling in his finger/thumb might push him out of the game earlier.

If you can miss bats you can stop them from fouling pitches off and lower your pitch count.

Gurgi
Kremer is laboring to say it kindly. Very exciting play at first really too close for my nerves.

On both of these plays, the other team has to see it to appeal it. I think umpires unconsciously get excited about a prospective call out and something about their demeanor alerts the other team.
