1. I don't want Cease.

2. He would cost far more than he's worth in a trade.

3. No

Cease is a 1 year wonder and his baseline is less than average. He's part of the reason the White Sox were so bad this season. Definitely not worth the acquisition.

For arguments sake, SportsGuy says Fangraphs WAR is better than baseball reference and Fangraphs says Cease was worth 4.4, 4.5, and 3.7 the last 3 years.  They have Bradish at 3.8 last year.

FG’s pitching WAR is absolute trash. This is a perfect example as to why. There are mountains of other examples.

Okay, BRef has Cease at 3.0,6.0,2.4 the last 3 years.  They have Bradish at 4.9 last year.

Would be very intrigued by a Cowser, Westburg/Ortiz, Mountcastle, Kremer, Norby and Povich for Cease and Robert deal.

Did the trade on baseball trade values…..it would be a no go with Ortiz. With Westburg it still 129 vs 110 in favor of us. They call it a minor overpay by the White Sox.

Cease makes sense if they believe his 2022 season was an outlier, but why would the White Sox trade Robert (one of their few young cornerstones)?

Because they are a train wreck with him, he has had injury issues and would be cashing in at high value.

Now, they definitely could elect to keep him if they don’t want to hit the reset button again but there is plenty of reason on their end to trade him.

Just more evidence that Sports Guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.  😎
